Senator Nathan Dean of Rockmart passed away late last week at the age of 79. During the early years of developing the Silver Comet Trail, Nathan was one of the cheerleaders that pushed for completion of the trail. He voiced support for the Silver Comet when many of his constituents were not certain the trail was a good idea. He sponsored funding proposals for the Comet at the General Assembly and was directly responsible for securing over two million dollars for the trail. Without his enthusiasm and unfaltering support, PATH would have had a very difficult time convincing residents in Paulding and Polk County to accept the trail. Senator Dean’s contribution will not soon be forgotten by those of us who pushed for completion of the trail. Thanks Senator Dean for your passionate support for the Silver Comet and the people you served.
