Future Trailhead

After four years of planning and construction, the PATH Foundation has completed the East Decatur Greenway Trail! The 1.1 mile bicycle/pedestrian trail will provide safe, off-the-road access to the Avondale MARTA station from the trailhead at 890 Columbia Drive.  The Avondale MARTA parking lot is the future site of a mixed-use development. The developer, Columbia Ventures, has worked closely with East Decatur Greenway and the PATH Foundation to design a state-of-the art bicycle/pedestrian plaza.

Reclamation of the site, which was an abandoned gas station built around 1941, allows us to protect the waterways of the nearby East Fork of the Middle Branch of Shoal Creek, which borders the property on the eastern side.
