PATH’S MISSION
To transform Metro Atlanta into the most trail connected city in the United States and to share knowledge and experience with other communities to promote trail development.
Building Trails, Building Community
This vision has been brought to life by the PATH Foundation. For 33 years, PATH has created 325+ miles of trails across the State of Georgia. These trails, or linear parks, seamlessly integrate with the diverse landscapes of both urban and rural regions, serving both affluent and underfunded communities. PATH trails bring people together — drawing people from all races, ages, income brackets, and cultural backgrounds.
In 1991, It Was Just An Idea…
…to connect Atlanta walkers, runners, skaters, cyclists and more to a system of paved off-road trails that enhance the picturesque Georgia landscape and encourage all citizens to enjoy the outdoors. These trails were created to foster a sense of belonging, connect neighborhoods together, promote well-being and enhance the overall quality of our lives.
A Proven Track Record
Public support for the PATH Foundation continues to grow with the creation of new trails and extension of existing trails. The demand for trails has increased dramatically as Georgians look for safer ways to exercise, recreate and reconnect with their neighbors.
Over the last three decades, PATH trails have established themselves as a nationally recognized representation of trail-building achievement. With effective administration and leadership, PATH allocates over 93 percent of received donations to trail construction. This showcases the PATH Foundation’s dedication to finishing projects within a set time frame and budget, all while capitalizing on substantial public funding.
The PATH Foundation has made significant progress toward building Georgia a network of trails, including the imminent completion of the Silver Comet Trail into downtown Atlanta as well as many connector trails into the Altanta BeltLine.
